Black women slammed hardest by coronavirus joblessness, new survey finds

In the thick of the deadly coronavirus pandemic, Quintina Moore-Caraway, a Black woman working as a ramp agent at a Houston airport, was put on unpaid furlough, she told The New York Times. She said her employers notified her March 13, the same day the decision went into effect. “They said I could finish out my day on Friday, don’t come in on Saturday,” she told the newspaper, “and I haven’t been back since, with no pay.”A new survey found that Moore-Caraway is not alone.
